[36:45] Christian does because it reflects who we are now a stingy Christian is a contradiction in terms we ourselves have been gifted into new life in Christ we have been gifted into becoming givers and such giving is what God loves maybe there are hangups or reasons why giving doesn't sound cheerful to you maybe you worry well I have enough so you give a safe or maybe almost accidental amount of money every week maybe you love money maybe money is too much of an idol for you to let go of it maybe you feel like you wouldn't have the luxuries you like if you gave or maybe you just like the security of watching your savings account grow if we struggle with these things the answer is repentance and prayer because if we're honest our giving is not what it should be we will never be as giving as

[38:46] God was to us in Christ and even if our giving was enough and was a lot of money our hearts will never be cheerful enough as they should be we will never be as cheerful a giver as our savior we should pray to God in repentance for idolatry we should pray asking God to give us a cheerful heart to remove our anxiety!

[39:43] but also for him to do what he wants to do with our giving for him to use our gifts for his glory we should pray asking God to show us where can you use my cheerful intentional proportional giving for your kingdom we don't need to be afraid if God promised to supply our needs we don't need to be afraid to give if God promises to give us money to give as we close

[40:49] I want to remind us of Christ's work on the cross Christ giving of himself for the church is the basis for Paul's guidance and encouragement for the church to give generously within itself Christ of offering to the cross for us is the base of the that that Paul sends us here in the church for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich yet for your sake he became poor so that you may by his poverty you may become rich Paul makes it very clear in Ephesians 2 how much

[43:06] Jesús para buenas obras las cuales Dios preparó de antemano para que anduviésemos en ellas when we get a glimpse of that truth cuando vislumbramos esta verdad when we survey the cross and see God's amazing grace cuando contemplamos la cruz y vemos la gracia gloriosa de Cristo when we see that gift given to us y vemos ese don dado a nosotros it should drive each of us to care for and love each other nos debe impulsar a cuidar y amarnos unos a los otros it should drive us to be intentional and engaged in the life of our church nos debería llevar de manera intencional y comprometida a ofrendarnos en la vida de la iglesia it should drive us to be cheerful to give nos debe impulsar a ser dadores alegres the pattern we see is that God blesses and his people respond by blessing others

[44:14] God has blessed us in Christ and we respond by blessing others healthy giving and generosity in the body happens when members see what Christ has done for them healthy giving and generosity in the body happens when we see others needs and respond as Christ responded let's pray Lord we thank you for your goodness and grace to us thank you that you saw poor sinners and you became poor for us
